Hi, how is life? how has your summer been? mine was great! Lots of blessings . There's something I wanted to share with you. I don't know if you noticed, but more and more Christians are beginning to use too many four letter words. I know you know what I mean by four letter words - cussing, profanity, and swearing. I'm the kind-of girl that is serious about those things. Can you imagine a pastor or a missionary using those words or swearing? than why is it acceptable to us normal everyday Christians?
I know one girl from a different church and I always thought of her as really nice, we are not really close friends, but whenever I see her at church we talk. Yesterday I was talking to her on the phone and she said a four letter word, immediately it changed my thinking of her. Those who are not Christians notice those things and think to themselves, "why should I become a Christian? I'm no different from them."
You are not only doing wrong in front of unchristian's but in front of God, it is sin. Read what the bible says about it:
"And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell." (James 3:6)
"If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless." (James 1:26)
" For 'He who would love life and see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit." (1Peter 3:10)
Jesus also said, "How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." (Mathew 12:34)
So, do people say bad words because of the bad that is already inside of them?
"every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit." (Mathew 7:17-18)
What kind of fruit are you bearing? what do people hear when they hear you speak? do they think, "wow this person really loves God and does His will"? or are they wondering, "this guy/girl is a Christian and they say those words, maybe its not that bad, I can too"?
Please think of this, and take it seriously, God wants us to be holy.
If you are reading this and you are not a follower of Christ, please accept my apology for those "Christians" who do not do as God teaches.
-In love, and because I care, Vera.
